This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is your favourite quotes. I actually don’t really have any favourite quotes or make note of any quotes I come across while reading… So I figured I would go through the last 10 book that I have read and pick my favourite quotes from those particular books!

A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir
“Failure doesn’t define you. It’s what you do after you fail that determines whether you are a leader or a waste of perfectly good air.”

Night Film by Marisha Pessl
“Mortal fear is as crucial a thing to our lives as love. It cuts to the core of our being and shows us what we are. Will you step back and cover your eyes? Or will you have the strength to walk to the precipice and look out?”

The Language of Thorns: Midnight tales and Dangerous Magic by Leigh Bardugo
“We were not made to please princes.”

Blood Heir by Amelie Wen Zhao
“You can achieve everything in this world, but if it’s for someone else, it’s pointless. Live for yourself.”

He Started It by Samantha Downing
“sometimes we are a family of a**holes”

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
“You are an ember in the ashes, Elias Veturius. You will spark and burn, ravage and destroy. You cannot change it. You cannot stop it.”

The Memory of Babel by Christelle Dabos
“I’ve been Berenilde’s valet, Farouk’s plaything, and prey,” she repeated to herself, while returning her lens to its frame. “An empty threat isn’t going to intimidate me.”

A Song of Wraiths and Ruin by Roseanne A. Brown
“Nothing good can come of a place that refuses to see the pain of the people on whose backs it was built.”

The Guest List by Lucy Foley
“When he broke up with me, he told me that he would love me forever. But that’s total crap. If you love someone, really, you don’t do anything to hurt them.”

The One by John Marrs
“If you’ve got the opportunity to love someone as much as they love you, then grab it with both hands and hold on to it for dear life.”

I really like the A Song of Wraiths and Ruin quote – which is promising as it’s going on my TBR for October!
Great list 🙂

Great quotes! I also did something similar to you this week because I always tell myself that I’ll keep better track of favourite quotes but never do 😂 I love that quote from ASOWAR and reading the quotes from the Ember in the Ashes series makes me want to read it again soon!

I love The Language of Thorns, such a great book. I wasn’t a massive fan of An Ember In The Ashes, I liked it, but didn’t love it. Hopefully I might enjoy A Torch Against The Night more.

I love the approach you took with the prompt. Finding quotes in your recent reads was a great way for me to get a peek into each of these books to see if I want to pick them up, too! I love the quote from “The One” especially.

I like all of these a lot, but the A Song of Wraiths and Ruin in particular is going to sit with me for a while. What a brilliant book.
