This week’s Top 10 Tuesday prompt is changes to my reading life and it really made me stop and think and I’ve found there have definitely been a few changes throughout the years!
So these are my Top 5 Changes to my Reading Life:
Starting my blog was probably the biggest change to my reading life. I love expressing my opinions and reviewing the books that I have loved/hated!
I think this was one of the main changes that have occurred throughout the years as well. I used to only exclusively read YA fantasy books and series. Now I have definitely expanded my reading tastes to include more mystery, thriller, sci-fi and contemporary books!
Ever since I started my blog I’ve definitely upped my reading game. I used to only read 4-6 books a month and now I read around 10-12 books per month!
Goodreads has changed my life! I only started my Goodreads account in January 2018 and ever since it has been a staple. Finding new books, reading other people’s reviews, keeping up to date with new releases, everything!
I still mainly read physical books (paperbacks & hardbacks) but in the last few months I had been getting more into E Books and I have slowly dipped my toes into the world of Audio Books, not sure if it’s for me though.
This week’s Top 10 Tuesday prompt is Autumn vibes but since it is Spring over here in Australia, I thought I would list 5 books that give me spring vibes that I haven’t gotten around to picking up yet. I like listing all of the books that I am interested in but haven’t read because I feel it will make me prioritise them!
Famous in a Small Town by Emma Mills
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
The Astonishing Colour of After by Emily X.R. Pan
The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson
The Sun is also a Star by Nicola Yoon
I’ve slowly been dipping my toes into the Mystery/Thriller/Horror/Spooky genre over the last year but I am far from caught up with a lot of cult favorites! So when I seen this week’s prompt for Top 10 Tuesday I thought this was a perfect opportunity to list the top 10 most popular books in these genres that I haven’t read and I can make my way through the list and maybe this time next year I will have completed them all!
The Shining, IT & Pet Sematary by Stephen King
Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris
You by Caroline Kepnes
Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty
The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware
Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter
This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is books with extraordinary book titles. I have chosen 10 books from this year with interesting book titles that played a factor in making me want to pick them up! These could be books I’ve never heard of before, super hyped books or random books that immediately intrigued me because of its name.
Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody
The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden
Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers
Birthday by Meredith Russo
Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng
The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren
Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand
Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young
Neverworld Wake by Marisha Pessl
I decided to do a little spin on this week’s Top 10 Tuesday prompt and instead of characters traits I like I thought I would go with character traits I dislike!! There is usually a commonality between all of the characters I tend to dislike in books and when I really sat down and thought about it this was the list that I came up with!
There is just something about naïve main protagonists that just gets on my nerves.
Example: Charlie from Save the Date by Morgan Matson
Those characters that are just all me, me, me!
Example: Billy from Daisy Jones & the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Characters that have no backbone and just let everyone walk all over them.
Example: Elle from Geekarella by Ashley Poston
I really don’t like characters that judge other character without knowing/talking to them!
Example: Zuri from Pride by Ibi Zoboi
Characters who think they are better than other people!
Example: Jude from The Wicked King by Holly Black
