This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is books that were written before you were born. I was born in 1992 and out of the 400 or so book that I have read over the last 4 years only 2 were published before I was born. So for today’s list I figured I add the other 3 books that are currently on my TBR that were written before 1992 as well to round the number up to five!
The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood
Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card
The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan
The Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin
Great list! Tolkien and Le Guin are two authors I really want to read.

Absolutely! Especially since I love fantasy so much I have a need to read Le Guin’s books!

I’ve not read any of these books but I hope you get to enjoy all of them soon! Stop by if you get a chance:

I’m feeling rather old looking at all these posts from people born in the 1990s! I pre-date some of your choices! I do love Tolkien – The Hobbit was my gateway into the joys of fantasy, but somehow I have never read Ursula Le Guin… I did put a little twist on the topic this week: rather than disappearing into the classics (where there are so many that I love but rarely blog about) I went for books published in the year I was born!

Nice twist on the prompt!! I have never read any Le Guin either so we’re in the same boat there! ☺️

I’ve not read either The Hobbit or The Handmaid’s Tale. I often get a lot of surprise when I tell people I’m a big fantasy reader and haven’t read any Tolkein but he’s never really appealed to me!

I really struggled with his writing style when I first started but I was such a fan of the movies I kind of forced myself through lol 😊

Only 2 pre-90s books out of your last 400?? HOW DO YOU DO THAT EVEN. (although I guess it’s easier to read old ones when you ignore new releases/shop used book sales/keep skimming too darn many books about teen books published in the 20th century and getting distracted by those cool-lookin’ summaries instead)
