I have just completed The House of Hades which is the fourth book in the Heroes of Olympus series! I found the stakes have just kept getting bigger as the series progresses which definitely keeps me engaged in the story line. One thing I have found throughout the course of these books is that most of the times our heroes win through some sort of convenience. I get that these are middle grade books and I shouldn’t really read too much into the story and just enjoy it but I can’t help but pick these things up along the way. Even though the main focus is pretty much on Percy and Annabeth I’m enjoying the fact that attention is still being put on the other characters and they are given more of a chance to develop as the books continue. Frank and Leo especially are both highlighted in this book and we find out a bit more about Nico and why he has pushed himself away from everyone and the two camps. I can’t remember what happens in the final book so I’m hoping he gets some form of resolution and self acceptance. These characters at times can read a little older than what they are supposed to be, but I guess given the circumstances of their lives I can understand why they would be a bit more mature! I have highly enjoyed my reread of this series so far and I am excited to pick up The Blood of Olympus to see how everything wraps up!
