I have finally completed the series!! I finished Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian last week and I really loved it! It does get a little bit chaotic and confusing during some of the fighting scenes, trying to visualize where everyone is in New York since I have never been there before. But other than that I really adored this book, all of the action and the pacing was spot on! I loved that we finally get some answers to all the questions that have been floating around since the beginning of the series and we finally hear the full prophecy. It was so gratifying to finally see Percy and Annabeth get together and how cutely he asked her out. It definitely wasn’t an easy victory and we see Percy really struggle and get to his lowest point before eventually succeeding.
I absolutely loved this series and the way that Rick Riordan set up the next series was fantastic. My reread brought out all nostalgic feelings that I have been looking for lately and I was really looking forward to getting stuck in to them every month. I’m not sure whether or not I will start with The Heroes of Olympus series quite yet but I think in 2020 I will have to give them a go!

I just completed the third installment in the Percy Jackson and the Olympian’s Series: The Titan’s Curse. I forgot this book existed to be perfectly honest. When I read the title I was thinking to myself which one was that? Once I read the blurb I immediately remembered the story but I completely forgot that it was apart of this series, a little bit telling perhaps… It was overall highly entertaining, but it wasn’t one of my favorites. There was just a few things that I found a little off-putting. Like the fact that Percy’s mum was just completely fine letting him make his own decisions and running off into danger while she was getting cozy with Mr Blowfis. Also the decision that Bianca made and the reasoning behind it. I get that she wanted to be someone other than Nico’s big sister but to just abandon him to people that you don’t know to run off for en eternity as a Huntress bothered me a little bit. Other than that I really enjoyed the direction the plot went with. It was fast paced, action packed and we got a lot more information about the prophecy regarding the child of the big three. I feel like this was a little bit of a filler story that added a lot of context for the books that are to come.

This month I read Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan continuing on in my reread of the entire series. I really enjoyed this book and the way that it progresses from the first. We start to see Percy really stand up and become a little more of the leader that he is meant to be. I love just picking up on subtle foreshadowing moments in these earlier books that become so integral later on in the series; the topic of fatal flaws, the search for Pan and then slowly learning more and more about the major prophecy about one of the children of the big three. And even right at the start of the book Percy getting picked on by the bullies at his school about the photo of Annabeth being his girlfriend. Seeing these little tidbits of information and knowing that they are all going to be explored more in depth in the coming books really excites me and keeps me engaged. I’ve found that the books have been a little shorter than what I remember but there is definitely a lot of action and adventure packed into them! I loved my reread and I can’t wait to continue on with The Titan’s Curse!
