Favourite Books Released in the Last Ten Years (one book for each year)

This weeks Top 10 Tuesday is my favourite books released in the last 10 years (one book for each year). This was a lot of fun to come up with, there were some years where I had 3-4 books that were all released together and it was really difficult to just choose one, but I think this list represents my reading tastes well!

The Crimson Crown Review

8069828My new favourite fantasy series ever??

This was absolutely perfect in my opinion. Everything I love about fantasy all wound together to make this absolutely wonderful conclusion to a series that may have made its way to the top of my all time favourite list!

Raisa was everything that I needed her to be in this book. She followed her gut and her heart and never strayed from what she believed in until she thought all was lost and even then she still tried to figure out a way to prevent war in the Vale and save as many people as she could. She is more than willing to trade her life for the good of her people and she didn’t let me down in this book. I had a few misgivings about her throughout the series but she really took everything she has learnt and put it to play and ultimately went with her heart, which I absolutely loved!

What can I say about Han… ever since The Demon King he has steadfastly been my favourite character in this series and he has honestly gone above and beyond my expectations. He has proved time and time again that he will do anything for the people that he loves and is loyal to a fault. You never know what to expect from him and he is such an entertaining character. His arc over the course of the series as well was momentous; from a street lord at Ragmarket to the High Wizard of the Queen. I loved seeing him manipulate and also struggle in his attempt to overthrow the Bayers and how eventually his plan unfolded and came to fruition was everything that I hoped for. There was so many obstacles that Han and Raisa had to overcome and knowing that it didn’t come easy and without loss only made it more satisfying.

It delved so much deeper into the history of the Seven Realms and all my questions about what happened between Alger and Hannalea was unearthed and I was completely blindsided. I honestly didn’t predict anything that happened and I tried to go into to the book without thinking to much about what plot twists could happen next and I was rewarded with so many convoluted, intricate storylines that shocked and amazed me!

I truly loved this book and the Seven Realms series as a whole. Cinda Williams Chima is now one of my favourite fantasy authors and I will without a doubt be picking up the Stormcaster series as soon as I can get my hands on it!

5 Fantasy Series I Want to Start Update

I did a post back in January about 5 Fantasy Series that I wanted to start in 2019 and since we are already in May I thought I would do an update of what I’ve started/finished/not even touched yet!

The five series were:

The Seven Realms Series by Cinda Williams Chima – I completed this series this month actually! I absolutely LOVED these books, I think Cinda Williams Chima is a fantastic fantasy author and I will definitely be continuing on with the Shattered Realms series very soon!The-Seven-Realms-Series copy

The Falling Kingdoms Series by Morgan Rhodes – I only currently own Falling Kingdoms and Gathering Darkness. I don’t like to start a series unless I have access to all of the books, so I haven’t had a chance to pick these books up yet.tumblr_o4hpav2jRC1tgcknno1_1280 copy

The Witchlands Series by Susan Dennard – I have completed all of the books that are currently out at the moment. I have been loving this series so far! Iseult and Safi are amazing characters and the plot is getting progressively better with each book!Picture1 copy

The Lightbringer Series by Brent Weeks – I own all of these books but I feel I haven’t prioritized this series because I think I’m not as excited to read it as much as the other series in this list. I will probably get started later on in the year!Screen-Shot-2018-08-02-at-9_16_40-AM copy

The Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb – I also currently own all of the books in this trilogy I just haven’t picked up them up yet! *Spoiler* Assassin’s Apprentice will be on my TBR next month so no doubt I will be completing this trilogy very soon!asssason copy

So far in the last 5 months I have completed 2 out of the 5 series I wanted to read this year. That is a total of 8 out of the 20 books that make up these series. I think I am on track to hopefully finish all of these series by the end of the year; I originally only wanted to get started on these books so I am quietly confident I will have least read at least 1-2 of the books from the other three series before the end of 2019!

April Wrap Up

I actually had a great reading month… I’m not quite sure how it happened but I deviated from my original TBR and actually read a lot more books than I was originally planning too and I’m not mad at it! I kind of listened a little more to my mood this month and read what I felt like reading instead of just solely sticking to my TBR and I feel like that approach really enabled me to read a lot more!
