OWL’s Magical Readathon
I was aware that the OWL’s Magical Readathon was happening in April but I honestly had no intention of participating… simply because I already had my set TBR for the month and I didn’t want to have to completely change it to comply with the prompts for the readathon. However when I had a look over them a few days ago I figured out that a good majority of the book I read this month actually fit the prompts!
A Retelling (Beauty and the Beast Retelling)

Land Animal on the Cover (I’m kind of cheating but there is a crow on this cover)

Age Line – Read an Adult Book (Adult/Historical Fiction)

Reducto: title starting with an “R” (I know the title has now been changed but I did read the E Book version that was still titled Royals)

Plant on the cover

Published at least 10 years ago (How fitting! This was published in in 2005)

Contemporary (YA Contemporary)

Next ingredient: sequel (2nd Book in the Seven Realms series!)

Sprayed edges or red cover

I think I will continue on with the NEWTs in August and I will do a TBR that month focused solely on the readathon and reveal what magical career I plan to follow … how exciting!

April Wrap Up
I actually had a great reading month… I’m not quite sure how it happened but I deviated from my original TBR and actually read a lot more books than I was originally planning too and I’m not mad at it! I kind of listened a little more to my mood this month and read what I felt like reading instead of just solely sticking to my TBR and I feel like that approach really enabled me to read a lot more!

Quick Fire Fantasy Book Tag🏷
I was kind of coming up blank on what to post today until I seen this fun fantasy tag that your kind of not supposed to think to much about just write down the first thing that came to mind which is what I did! See the original tag HERE!
5 STAR BOOK
The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson – this is the first book of the Mistborn Trilogy an amazing adult fantasy series that I absolutely devoured! The first book established the characters and the world so wonderfully and the plot expands and builds up so intricately over the course of the series.

ALWAYS GOING TO RECOMMEND
The Stormlight Archives by Brandon Sanderson – another wonderful series by Brandon Sanderson that I cannot recommend enough. Granted this is a very convoluted, epic series with each book over 1000 pages so I would say it’s definitely not for those just beginning their foray into the world of fantasy. But if you are a high/epic fantasy lover I would 100% recommend if you haven’t picked them up yet!

OWN IT BUT HAVEN’T READ IT YET
The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang – a very popular fantasy read that came out last year, also one of my most anticipated books on my TBR simply because of the hype that was surrounding it. When it comes to hype around fantasy books nine times out of ten I will pick them up and give them a read simply because I just simply love fantasy.

WOULD READ IT AGAIN
A Court of Thorns and Roses Series by Sarah J Maas – It’s been over two years now since I first completed this series and I really enjoyed it in particular A Court of Mist and Fury. That book just blew me away let me tell you! But because its such a polarising series I kind of want to give it a reread and see if I have the same feelings the second time around.

IN ANOTHER WORLD
The Lord of the Rings Series by J.R.R Tolkien – I have just always been fascinated by Middle Earth as well as the Undying Lands. When I read the books I was just so immersed in the details of the world and I loved how expansive and immensely real this fantastical realm seemed.

BACK ON EARTH
Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling – I’ve really been on a Harry Potter kick of late and it seems like my mind never strays day from the Wizarding World.
