Character Traits I Hate

I decided to do a little spin on this week’s Top 10 Tuesday prompt and instead of characters traits I like I thought I would go with character traits I dislike!! There is usually a commonality between all of the characters I tend to dislike in books and when I really sat down and thought about it this was the list that I came up with!

naiveThere is just something about naïve main protagonists that just gets on my nerves.

Example: Charlie from Save the Date by Morgan Matson

Picture3Those characters that are just all me, me, me!

Example: Billy from Daisy Jones & the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Picture4Characters that have no backbone and just let everyone walk all over them.

Example: Elle from Geekarella by Ashley Poston

Picture5I really don’t like characters that judge other character without knowing/talking to them!

Example: Zuri from Pride by Ibi Zoboi

Picture6Characters who think they are better than other people!

Example: Jude from The Wicked King by Holly Black

🌼Spring TBR🌼

This week’s Top 10 Tuesday is books on my Spring TBR. There are quite a few new releases I’m hoping to get to this spring, as well as finishing off a couple series I have started!

Ninth House by Leigh Bardugoprobably my most highly anticipated new release for the second half of the year I am super excited to get stuck in!

43263680

Supernova by Marissa Meyer – I really enjoyed Renegades & Archenemies and I am hoping Supernova is the explosive ending this series deserves!

42771754

Girls of Storm and Shadows by Natasha Ngan – I loved Girls of Paper and Fire when I read it earlier this year so I am really eager to get stuck back into this world and see what will happen next!

43558747

The Shattered Realms Series by Cinda Williams Chima – I absolutely LOVED the Seven Realms Series when I read it earlier in the year and I can’t wait to see whether or not my love for Cinda Williams Chima’s writing will continue on with her latest series.

Middlegame by Seanan McGuire – I haven’t read any Seanan McGuire before and I kind of want my first book to be her latest. The plot really intrigued me and this cover is stunning so I really want to read this!

The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware – My first and only Ruth Ware has been The Death of Mrs Westaway which was AMAZING! So I want to give her latest book a read before I dive into any of her backlist titles.

40489648

Sadie by Courtney Summers – this book has gotten rave reviews in the last couple of years and I want to give it a read to see if the hype is justified or not!

Favorite things to Eat/Drink Whilst Reading

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is your favorite things to eat/drink while your reading. I’m usually too in the zone to even think about eating or drinking, however, there are some occasions I find myself reaching for something while I’m reading so these are 5 of my favorite things I like to eat/drink!

watrer copyOf course you need to stay hydrated and water is really my go to drink at any moment of the day.

Books I’ve Been Avoiding

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt aligns perfectly with my TBR for September. I am using this month to catch up on all of the books I physically own that have been sitting on my shelves for quite a while now. I guess I am about to out myself on why I have been procrastinating on these books, but I will be trying to push myself to get through at least 50% by the end of the month!

So this is 10 books on my TBR I have been avoiding and why:

The 7 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton

This one is just purely the size of the book and the fact that the whole mystery/thriller genre is still relatively new to me. I am really highly anticipating this book but I know it’s going to be a bit of a commitment to finish so I have been putting it off!

36337550

The Winternight Trilogy by Katherine Arden

I have heard so much about this series over the last year and it’s been nothing but good reviews, though a lot of people have said it’s a little slower paced. I much prefer fast paced, high action fantasies so that has really deterred me from picking this series up!

The Astonishing Colour of After by Emily X.R. Pan

I think every single person who has read this book has loved it from what I gather. Again I’ve heard that it’s a bit of a slower paced book and that it’s quite sad as well, which really makes me pause. I can handle sad stories but I really need to be in the right mind frame to be able to cope and I just haven’t been there yet…

35604686

The Lightbringer Series by Brent Weeks

Again the only reason I haven’t picked these books up yet is because of the size. Now I really don’t mind long books especially in fantasy series, I mean I marathoned The Stormlight Archives late last year and they are all over 1000 pages each, so usually length doesn’t cow me away from books. However it’s more so the premise/concept that isn’t really pulling me in and that along with the size has put me off a little!

The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi

This book at one stage this year was super hyped and I impulse bought it when I saw it at a bookstore and now it’s just been sitting on my shelves ever since. When I bought it I didn’t really know much about it and then after reading the blurb and seeing some not very good reviews it made me put it on the back-burner. I still do want to read it and see whether or not the hype was justified, I just haven’t felt the need to yet.
