It’s Top Ten Tuesday time once again friends! This week the prompt is book series that were just so satisfying! In my case these are 5 series that I devoured and loved that got me hooked back into reading.

Six of Crows Duology by Leigh Bardugo

Red Rising Trilogy by Pierce Brown

The Nevernight Chronicles by Jay Kristoff

Dance of Thieves Duology by Mary E. Pearson

Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson

I can’t believe it’s already been three months since my last quarterly reading recommendations! This is going to be my third instalment for 2022 and even though I didn’t read that much I still able to pick 10 books that I would recommend. If you want to check out my second quarterly reading recommendations click HERE!
My recommendations for July – August – September are:
The Lord of the Rings trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien

Into the Riverlands by Nghi Vo

Slewfoot: A Tale of Bewitchery by Brom

Book of Night by Holly Black

The It Girl by Ruth Ware

So Happy for You by Celia Laskey

Six of Crowns Duology by Leigh Bardugo

Ahh Crooked Kingdom was everything I remembered and more! Like with Six of Crows this was only the second time I read this book and a lot of the little details I didn’t remember. I forgot how intricate Kaz’s many plans were and how they all came together in the end. There were stretches of the book that I found to be a bit slower paced and quite boring but they were overshadowed by how entertaining the rest of the plot was. I liked the fact that everything didn’t go exactly to plan yet Kaz and the rest of the crew were able to come together reevaluate and still get the job done. We definitely get more of an insight into the whole crew and delved into their backstories a lot more which gave this duology a lot more depth. And the way it ended was just so satisfying and made me feel very content. It was also nice to have the little cameo from Genya, Zoya and Nikolai which definitely leads into the next duology in the Grishaverse which I am very excited to get to!

I just now finished my reread of Six of Crows and oh my goodness the nostalgia! This was only the second time I have ever read this book which was over 5 years ago now and I really enjoyed it. There was a lot of the little details that I forgot over the years so it was honestly just a joy to relive everything again. Having multiple perspectives gave the story more depth and kept me very much engaged throughout. I liked the fact that we have multiple character arcs and budding relationships going on as well. I definitely wasn’t as in love with this book as I was the first time, I didn’t have that drive behind me to finish it in one day but I think that’s to be expected from a reread. Still lived up to the hype and this is probably my favourite book in the Grishaverse so far!
