This month the buzzword theme is Time and just like last month I have a couple of options:
The Buzzword Readathon is a monthly readathon created by BooksandLala on booktube. It’s run the first week of each month (1st through 7th) with each month having a designated word/word theme and you have a week to read as many books as you like with that word in the title. You can however use it as a year long readathon and read just ONE book each month featuring the monthly buzzword until you complete the whole challenge which is what I am going to do for the rest of the year. I didn’t have anything that matched January’s buzzword but I am going to endeavour to complete the rest of the year!
With all that being said February’s Buzzword is a colour and I have a few options I can pick from:
For this weeks Top Ten Tuesday I am going to go with new releases I wish I read from 2020. I did a post not too long ago about five 2020 new releases I wish I had read but there were soooo many more books that were released last year that I really wish I had a chance to get to, so I’ve got 10 more new releases from 2020 that fingers crossed I will get to this year!
Legendborn by Tracy Deonn
Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare
The Silvered Serpents by Roshani Chokshi
Lightbringer by Claire LeGrand
The Ravens by Kass Morgan & Danielle Page
Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse
Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas
Vicious Spirits by Kat Cho
The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow
The Year of the Witching by Alexis Henderson
I honestly don’t know where this year has gone! It’s now Boxing Day and it will be 2020 next week, like huh? With that being said there are a few books I had every intention of reading this year but time has gotten away with me and it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen, so I thought I would list them here, that way I will have a reference to look back on for next year!
So this is 5 books I wish I read in 2019
The Astonishing Color of After by Emily X.R. Pan – this was a ‘me’ issue. I feel like I have to be in the right frame of mind of read this book and I just haven’t been there!
The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton – this has been on my TBR for ages now and I have been meaning to pick it up every month but it just hasn’t happened yet.
On the Come Up by Angie Thomas – I really wanted to read this book this year! It was so hyped and I don’t think I’ve heard a bad review for it; I just didn’t get a chance to get to it…
Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire – The Wayward Children series is so well loved and I had every intention of giving at least the first book a read this year to see if I feel the same way, but again it didn’t happen.
The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi – This was another book that was super hyped at the start of this year and I ended up buying it because of that. I wanted to read it to see if the hype was justified or not but I haven’t had the time to get into it yet.
These are five of my favourite quotes from the last 5 books that I have completed!
Rebel Spring by Morgan Rhodes
“Sometimes, to regain sanity, one had to acknowledge and embrace the madness.”
The Star Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi
“Trust is won in years. Not words.”
House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig
“Nights like this were meant to be shared, remembers, and talked about for years. Skies like this were meant to be kissed under.”
All These Beautiful Strangers by Elizabeth Klehfoth
“In many ways, my mother, my father—the people I was closest to, the people who meant the most to me—were strangers. Beautiful strangers.”
Paper Towns by John Green
“It is so hard to leave—until you leave. And then it is the easiest goddamned thing in the world.”
