Mid Year Freak Out Book Tag 🏷

What is the best book that you’ve read so far in 2019?

The Crimson Crown by Cinda Williams Chima – This was an absolutely amazing conclusion to the Seven Realms Series and I have been obsessed ever since I finished this book!

8069828

What has been your favourite sequel for the first half of the year?

Legendary by Stephanie Garber – Caraval was just a little bit meh for me. I wasn’t all that invested in the characters and the magic system felt lacking to me. Then I picked up Legendary and the story was just elevated to another level.

Is there a new release that you haven’t read yet that you’re really excited to?

The Bride Test by Helen Hoang – I read The Kiss Quotient a few weeks ago now and LOVED it and I knew immediately that I needed to pick up The Bride Test and see how it compares!

39338454

What is your most anticipated release for the second half of the year?

Dark Dawn by Jay Kristoff – Godsgrave ended with a massive cliff-hanger, I need to know what is going to happen next! I am super excited to see what the outcome will be.

What is your biggest disappointment so far?

Circe by Madeline Miller – It just bored me…

9781408890080

What is your biggest surprise so far?

Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid – from the way that people explained the plot and the hype surrounding this book kind of turned me off from wanting to read it, but when I saw my local library had a copy I picked it up, read it and ended up really enjoying the book!

9781786331519

What is your favourite new to you or debut author?

Adrienne Young – I just recently read Sky in the Deep and I absolutely loved it! There were so many moving scenes in this book and I was super invested from the start.

What is your favourite fictional crush from this year?

Aeduan from the Witchlands Series – Bad/dangerous characters are my vice!

51uwijmx-pl

What is your new favourite character?

It changes constantly, right now at this moment I would probably say Nona from Red Sister. She’s had to deal with so much in life already, yet she won’t give up!

51oBuBFqgHL

A book that made you cry?

A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness – how could you not cry reading this book?

a91ce7bc-005c-4350-9436-48e63ec8673a

A book that made you happy?

Nevermoor by Jessica Townsend – I loved this book, it very fast paced and I was entertained from the first chapter to the last. The premise of the book is so unique and the execution was very well done! I had a smile on my face throughout the entirety of this book!

9780734418074

Your favourite book to movie/TV show that you’ve seen so far?

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before! – It was a great adaptation in my opinion. Both the book and the movie were super entertaining, a little bit cringey and very fast paced. They do tackle some deep emotional topics that are very current in today’s society which I thought made both the book and the movie very relevant.

No Disclaimers Book Tag 🏷

I thought I would have a little fun and do the No Disclaimers Book Tag! I love doing tags, I’ve seen this one a few times before and thought why not give it a go!

Which trope(tropes) in books annoy you the most? I think a super placid, naïve, underwhelming female protagonist. The one who always needs to be rescued or can’t function without a man by her side…

Which writer or writers do you feel are overrated/over hyped? I would have to say Holly Black, I’ve only read The Cruel Prince and The Wicked King by her and I was underwhelmed.

2603282526032887

What are your least favourite books you’ve read since blogging? I’m going to have to say The Darkest Minds series.

darkest-minds-giveaway-feature

A terrible ending that ruined an otherwise quality book? I read the Raven Cycle last year and really enjoyed the build-up of anticipation over the course of the series but the ending in The Raven King was a little stale.

What fictional character(s) you wish were not killed off? I’m still low-key not over Professor Dumbledore and Fred Weasley …

What are some of your bookish pet peeves? When someone borrows a book and doesn’t return it! Ugh!

What are some books you feel should have more recognition? Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson, I really enjoyed this book but I feel like not a lot of people talk about it!

Reading Habits Tag 🏷

Today I thought I would have some fun and do the reading habits tag. I know there are dozens of different kinds of tags out there that is bookish related that I would love to do in the future but for today I hope you enjoy and learn a bit more about me! 🙂

Do you have a certain place at home for reading?

I like to be alone when I read so it is usually in my bedroom.

Bookmark or random piece of paper?

Book mark, although if I am in a bind and don’t have any bookmarks or random bits of paper I have been known to dog ear 🤷🏽‍♀️

Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/certain amount of pages?

I usually like to stop at the start of a new chapter, but if something comes up I can stop mid page, it doesn’t really bother me.

Do you eat or drink while reading?

Frequently! If you were to borrow any of my books you may come across smudge or faint droplet.

Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?

I like absolute peace and quiet when I read! Background noise just bugs me.

One book at a time or several at once?

I am a one book at a time kind of person. I will forget plot lines and get character mixed up and have everything twisted.

Reading at home or everywhere?

I really only ever read at home.

Reading out loud or silently in your head?

I mostly read silently in my head. If something particularly juicy happens or if my cringe factor is at an all-time high during a book I do like to make exclamations and talk to myself lol

Do you read ahead or even skip pages?

Not really. If I am bored during parts of a book I may just skim through paragraphs but never whole pages.

Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?

I try to keep them like new for as long as possible but its not the end of the world if they do end up a bit worn.

Do you write in your books?

No, I’ve never been one to annotate.
