2025 Bookish Goals

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is your bookish goals for this year.. I’m keeping things quite simple over here with my main priority being my happiness and health but here are a few reading/blogging specific goals I have in mind:

I want to get back to blogging every weekday! I have loved my blogging journey yet last year didn’t go as planned and reading really took a back seat for me hence I didn’t have anything to post. So I would love to get back into reading, writing and posting to the point where it becomes the norm for me once again. It has really helped me put a lot more structure into my time and sort of forced me to be more productive in the past and I need that in my life again. I would like to grow my blog a bit more and produce even more fun, detailed, bookish content that you all will enjoy!

I would like to read more books that I actually interest me. I’ve made a bit of a habit of just buying and reading books because they are super hyped and popular even though the actual book doesn’t interest me. I could be a genre that I don’t usually read from or the premise doesn’t intrigue me but because everyone is talking/raving about it I still pick it up and read it anyway and I usually don’t enjoy it. I just think it’s a waste of time and I could be reading a book that I actually want to read.

I’ve set my Goodreads goal for 2025 at 50 books. In 2023 I read 127 books and last year I only managed to get to 17.. so I don’t want to go crazy and aim for 100 this year so I figure 50 is a nice middle ground that seems achievable.

Find a balance between reading/blogging and life. I find that currently my life isn’t as balanced as what it should be. My relationship and social media/doomscrolling has kind of taken over all my time that I used to commit to reading. So for 2025 I would really like to find a way to balance out my life in a way that ensures I am healthy and happy.

The last goal I wish to set for myself this year is to just be happy. I think if I accomplish the rest of my goals it will make for a great year and that will definitely make me happy!

2024 Bookish Goals

It’s Top Ten Tuesday time once again friends and the prompt is bookish goals for 2024. We had the same prompt around this time last year so I revisited my post and I’ve found that I have exactly the same goals 😅 so I figured I’d just repost last years goals again and try and incorporate these thoughts into my life moving forward in 2024!

I’ve been finding as of late that when I’m trying to find what book I want to read next I will look at the page count and see how long the book is which will influence whether or not I choose that book. Like if I have two books I’m choosing between and one is 500 pages and the other is on 300 I will pick that one because it is shorter not because I’m interested in that one more. I want to try and dismiss this train of thought and pick books because I’m excited to read them not because I could finish it in one day.

It’s kind of hard to explain but I kind of forget that there is a world in these books that I enjoy diving into and I let the page count or the number of books in the series deter me from continuing on. Which hopefully this year I can overcome and actually finish some series that I have been in the middle of for literally years now!

I’ve set my Goodreads goals for 80 this year instead of the 100 I usually would do. I don’t want to focus too much on the number of books I read and instead try and focus on the quality so this is more of a tentative goal. I would still love to read anywhere from 80-100 books again in 2023 but I don’t want my need to complete this deter me from picking up longer books and taking my time getting through them.

The last goal I wish to set for myself this year is to just be happy. I think if I accomplish the rest of my goals it will make for a great year and that will definitely make me happy!

2023 Bookish Goals

It’s Top Ten Tuesday time once again friends and this week’s prompt is your bookish goals for 2023 so here are 5 of mine:

I’ve made a bit of a habit of just buying and reading books because they are super hyped and popular even though the actual book doesn’t interest me. Goodreads Reading Goal

alcemist1Super excited to announce as of yesterday I completed my 2020 Goodreads Reading Goal of 100 books!!! I had the same goal last year and I believe I completed it around late July so I’m running a little behind but I am still super stoked I was able to complete it. It honestly doesn’t feel like I’ve read 100 books this year but due to the current situation in the world I’ve definitely had a lot more time to stay home and read! Last year I ended up completing 172 books so it will be interesting to see what I will end up with at the end of 2020. Hopefully everyone is able to complete their Reading Goals for the year and if you don’t I still hope you read some great books!! 😊

Holy Sister Review

*SPOILERS*

38099642._SY475_The third and final instalment in the Book of Ancestor series by Mark Lawrence follows 3 years after the epic conclusion to Red Sister. Nona is on the cusp of becoming a fully-fledged Sister of the Convent and the Empire is on the cusp of war with the Scithrowl.

A lot happened in the interim between books two and three, but I appreciated that the flashbacks were put in so we can see how Nona and Zole got away and how they made it through the ice. I loved how in depth Mark Lawrence went with the descriptions and world building on the ice. It’s so different to their usual settings and helped to break up the story and keep me invested. I could almost feel how cold it was and it really added a layer of urgency to the storyline. I ultimately knew Nona was able to make it out but no mention was made of Zole in the present so I was very intrigued to figure out her story over the course of the plot.

I’ve always loved Nona’s character, so is just so unpredictable and entertaining. Her attitude and growth over the course of the series has been wonderful to read and she is exactly the kind of main female protagonist I love; capable, hardworking, willing to put herself on the line for others and still able to surprise me with her cunning. It’s really shown in Holy Sister how she contrasts from her former self as the little Nona Grey to the deadly Sister Cage she has now become!

The plot wasn’t my favourite in the series, simply because I am not the biggest fan of long drawn out war scenes. There was a lot going on all at once and I was having a little trouble keeping track of everyone. However, I loved how the plot unravels and all of Abbess Glass’s plans start to come to light. Her intellect and schemes have always had me on the edge of my seat and she has consistently surprised me throughout the books.

I absolutely loved this series, definitely amongst my top 5 favourite fantasy series that I’ve ever read! I will for sure have to look into Mark Lawrence’s other series he has out because I have just loved his writing style and the complex, diverse characters and the immense world’s he creates. Going into it not really expecting/knowing much about the series was a bonus because I captured by surprise and totally swept away into this world!

⭐️4.5/5 stars Everything that I love about fantasy!!!
