Grishaverse Reread

Sooo I said I was going to be rereading the Stormlight Archives so I can finally get to Rhythm of War but I feel like I’m not really in any kind of rush to read it until the 5th book comes out as that will be the finale of the current storyline I believe. So once that books release is announced then I will start my reread. But for right now I kind of want to dive back into the Grishaverse. I haven’t read Rule of Wolves yet simply because I’m had a hard enough time remembering all of the characters for King of Scars and it’s been nearly two years so I have no chance right now. So I want to start with the original Shadow and Bony trilogy and I will just continue on from there until I get to Rule of Wolves and be refreshed and back up to date! I also haven’t watched the TV show yet so I think that will be a nice treat at the end of my reread.

Russian Inspired Reads

Over the last couple of years I’ve tried tried to broaden my reading horizons and pick up books with different settings and cultures from my own and I’ve come across one particular setting that I have really enjoyed which is Russian inspired reads. Most of these are fantasy books and there is just something about the atmosphere and tone of these stories that immediately had me engaged!

Reasons why I Love Fantasy Series

This weeks Top 10 Tuesday is reason’s you love…. and today I decided to list the reasons I love fantasy series with a couple of examples!

Here are 9 reasons why I love Fantasy Series:

Picture1I loving deep diving into a new world with every fantasy novel I pick up, learning all about it and how it differs from reality.

Picture2Magic is usually at the core of each fantasy novel/series and learning about all of the intricacies, rules and restrictions is one my favourite things about the genre!

Picture3The characters are such a highlight in fantasy. Sometimes they are quite similar to regular human in a completely fantastical setting, other times they are a completely foreign species that we need to learn about!

Picture5Quests are some of my favourite tropes in fiction and the fantasy genre has provided me with some of my favourites!

LOTR111

Picture4Of course nothing quite beats an evil overlord of some kind that our underdog main protagonist needs to defeat. The dichotomy of good versus evil is very prevalent in fantasy and I feel it creates a bond between the reader and the characters.

Picture6There are sooooo many different subgenres of fantasy that keep me engaged and consistently entertained! One I’ve recently been enjoying is sci-fi fantasy!

Picture8A good romance mixed in between all of the magic and adventure is something that always keeps me coming back for more!

Picture9There is something freeing about diving headfirst into a long, epic/high fantasy series that really helps you to escape the realities of life.

5 Books/Series I want to Reread in 2019

The first series I want to reread this year is The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling. If you follow my blog you would know I am currently in the middle of a reread of this series. I have LOVED my experience so far and I will update you of my progress later on this month.

The second series I would like to reread is the Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo. I read King of Scars earlier this month and that really got me back into the Grishaverse so if I can I would really like pick these up!

Since I’m rereading the Grisha Trilogy it’s only fair that I pick up the Six of Crows Duology by Leigh Bardugo and give that a read too. One of my all-time favourite series out there, I was super impressed by this duology and it’s been nearly 3 years since I’ve read these books so I am very overdue.

The fourth book I would like to read again is Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi. This is solely in preparation for the second book of the series that comes out on the 5th of March. This book was so hyped that I read it too quickly and didn’t retain enough of the plot or developed a connection to the characters, so I kind of want to take my time and give it another read before I pick up Children of Virtue and Vengeance.

The last book I’m hoping to reread this year is Vicious by V.E. Schwab. Similar to Children of Blood and Bone I do want to get around to reading Vengeful this year but since it’s been around 2 ½ years since I read Vicious I do want to pick it up again and get reacquainted with the storyline.
