For the fifth year in a row my favourite posts are my monthly stats even though I’ve only posted one this year lol

I just love this cover so much!

Sooo after a little bit of a hiatus, I have decided I am back! I haven’t been on here since February and my return coincidentally coincides with my 5 year anniversary here and as I sat down to think about whether or not I should close down my blog for good I couldn’t bring myself to do it! I love reading, I love my blog and even though I disappeared for a while and haven’t been reading as much as I have in the past I have decided I am still going to keep my blog and just post when I can with no pressure!

*SEMI-SPOILERY THOUGHTS AHEAD*

Rereading Eragon for the first time in years and years was an interesting experience. I still really enjoyed the book and it brought back all of the nostalgic feelings I wanted however, this wasn’t as thrilling and exciting as I remembered. I liked the way we’re learning about the world and magic system along with Eragon, but too much time was spent on the travelling portion of the book and not enough was spent at each location in my opinion. The initial chase to find the Ra’zac was enough and I wish we could of skipped a lot of the other travelling scenes. The time they spent at Dras-Leona and Gil’ead felt rushed and then they were back travelling again for weeks at a time. Eragon can be a bit hyper-focused and selfish at times, Murtagh told him time and time again that he didn’t want to end up at the Varden and he dismissed him every time until it was too late. That bugged me a lot and had he actually listened and planned out a proper escape for Murtagh after he helped him out so much his whole trajectory and plotline in the subsequent novels could of been very different. I think he does kind of learn from his mistakes though and is starting to see how his decisions are starting to affect those around him. All in all this was still a 4 star read for me, I can’t get over how much I loved this book growing up and how this kind of cemented my love for fantasy books and I can’t wait to continue on with the rest of the series!

This time last year I made a post about some 5 star predictions. I went back and had a look I’ve read 6 of the 10 books on my list and I feel like it’s been pretty successful so far… Hopefully I can get around to reading the other 4 sometime this year, but we shall see!
